Inspiring enquiring minds

History fires pupils' curiosity about past events, societies and people. By studying history, pupils come to understand more about themselves as individuals and as members of society. What they learn can influence personal choices, attitudes and values for years to come. This part of the QCDA website has general information on history, as well as resources and support for teachers.

Motivate and innovate
To improve your teaching while raising pupils' achievement, see Innovating with history, a micro-site for schools by which to inspire 5- to 14-year-olds through innovative ways of teaching history. The site has planning ideas, classroom activities and case studies.
