About marking and examining
Marking and examining is at the heart of our exams system – find out what we do, who we work with and how you can get involved.
QCDA is committed to improving the quality of assessment and marking. We also want to provide good support for those who work in the field:
- markers of national curriculum tests and single level tests
- examiners of general qualifications
- moderators of general qualifications.
Development, regulation and monitoring
We work with the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors (CIEA) and other stakeholders to ensure high standards are maintained, and to support the delivery of government policy in new areas such as the Diploma.
Ofqual, the qualifications, tests and exams regulator for England, ensures that:
- standards in qualifications, exams and tests are monitored and the findings are reported
- the quality of marking of exams, tests and other assessments is high, so that learners get the results they deserve.
National curriculum tests delivery in 2010
The marking of over one million tests during a six-week window and timely delivery of results relies on close collaboration. We're working with Edexcel to ensure the quality of national curriculum test delivery remains high in 2010. Edexcel has a proven track record in successful delivery of the tests, having worked with us from 2005 to 2007 and again in 2009. We have a shared commitment to ensuring reliable test results are available for each pupil at the end of their primary education.
